Studio

20 X 24 inch silver gelatin print.

Crabtree,1999

It is true that I recently found Craig Morey's site at http://www.moreystudio.com/ but as my grandma used to say "A cat can look at a king".

I might say this image is a tribute to Craig's work but it would be more accurate to say Craig frequently produces images I wish I had taken.

Chelmorey is my nervous tribute to the totally contrived studio shot, the tradition of the young female nude as beautiful object which, for all its logical and political problems is as old as photography itself and beyond that throughout the history of European painting.

This is not an area where I feel either completely competent or comfortable but I can't resist giving it a try from time to time.

After several tries I have to thank Chelsea for this beautiful, elegant and womanly pose.
