The Hat

This hat was an unplanned prop introduced by Peter and Chelsea. They are both Medievalists, interested in ancient armour and weapons. This wonderful hat is a facsimile. It is also metal and horrendously heavy but it brought out Chelsea's puckish sense of humour and produced some great images.

It makes me think of a detail from a Breughel painting.
