I recently bought Howard Schatz's book PASSION AND LINE (because WATER DANCE is out of print) so while I didn't set out to imitate Schatz I had to be influenced. I think I am most comfortable when I am able to inject spontaneity into a contrived situation (and of course it suits Chelsea perfectly). It takes a certain discipline to let go in medium format photography and accept that not every image will work because to a large extent you don't know exactly what you are going to get. Of course that is really always true anyway.
