The first shoot with a new model is always a little tense, a little nervy - neither party really knows what to expect. On the other hand I think a really good photographer can always make use of whatever is in front of him or her, is sufficiently on the ball to grab the opportunity as it arises. I wish I was like that. Ruth has an air about her - her friends tell her she looks like the Virgin Mary - which combined with her natural uncertainty regarding the situation changed this from being a simple display gesture to a rather poignant one. I look forward to further work with her.
